-2.90 (-0.83%) National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), India’s largest power generation company was awarded ‘SCOPE Meritorious Award 2010-11’ for Corporate Social Responsibility & Responsiveness by the President of India on April 13, 2012 in New Delhi. The Gold Trophy was received by the company in the presence of Union Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises.
NTPC is a socially responsible corporate citizen since its inception and is also a member of Global Compact, the largest voluntary initiative of UN for CSR. NTPC has prepared sustainability report covering Economic, Environmental and social aspects with the triple bottom line approach based on widely accepted Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Guidelines.
At present, the company operates seven gas-based projects in the country -- 413 MW Anta (Rajasthan), 652 MW Auraiya (Uttar Pradesh), 645 MW Kawas (Gujarat), 817 MW Dadri (Uttar Pradesh), 648 MW Jhanor-Gandhar (Gujarat), 350 MW Kayamkulam (Kerala) and 430 MW Faridabad (Haryana)-- with a total capacity of 3,955 MW.
