Date: 16-04-2012

NTPC’s thermal power plant’s bunker of the sixth unit at Kahalgaon in Bhagalpur district collapsed halting power generation from the unit. The bunker utilized for storage of coal for combustion in boiler furnace collapsed following technical snag, forcing suspension of power generation from the unit with 500-MW capacity.

The company has called a team of technical experts from New Delhi to restore the bunker. Meanwhile, power generation from NTPC thermal power plant has plummeted to 1,340 MW out of its total capacity of 2,340 MW with the seventh unit with a generation capacity of 500 MW already out of order for some time.
