Kirloskar Ferrous Industries shuts down one Mini Blast Furnace

Kirloskar Ferrous Industries (KFIL) has shut down one Mini Blast Furnace (`MBF-I') situated at Koppal Plant, Karnataka for around 85 days on account of MBF—I upgrade.

The MBF-I upgrade will involve changing of outer shell of the furnace along with new refractory brick relining internally. Total expenditure to be incurred will be around Rs 35.70 crore (net of recoverable taxes) and the same shall be financed fully by way of internal accruals.

After the upgrade of the MBF-I, the liquid metal production capacity (for manufacture of Pig Iron) in respect of MBF-I will increase from 1, 80,000 metric tonne (MT) per annum to 2,11,400 MT per annum and consequently total production capacity of two Mini-blast Furnaces at company level will increase from 3,60,000 MT per annum to 3,91,400 MT per annum.

Kirloskar Ferrous Industries is engaged in business of manufacturing pig iron and ferrous casting. At present the company is having two manufacturing plants, one at Koppal district in Karnataka state and another at Solapur in Maharashtra state.
