L&T achieves synchronization of 660 MW supercritical unit of Chhabra project in record time

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), has achieved synchronization on October 02, 2016, of its first 660 MW supercritical unit (Unit-5) of the Chhabra project in record time of 42 months and four days from the date of Notice to Proceed (March 28, 2013). The company is executing 2x660 MW supercritical thermal power project at Chhabra in Rajasthan. The thermal power project is being developed by the state utility, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam.

The synchronization is significant since it is the fastest synchronization for L&T amongst all its other projects to date and the speediest one so far for any indigenously manufactured supercritical unit in India. The previous best unit synchronization achieved for indigenously manufactured supercritical unit was 46 months for L&T’s Rajpura project in Punjab, which has now been improved to 42 months.
