Coal India Ltd.

Western Coalfields (WCL), a subsidiary of state-run mining company Coal India, has received the environment clearance for its Rs 263 crore expansion project in Nagpur district, Maharashtra. The company is likely to enhance the production capacity of the Gokul open cast mine to 1.875 MTPA from the existing 1 MTPA. The mine, located in 767.17 hectare, has a mineable reserve of 14.50 million tonnes. The clearance to the project is subject to certain conditions.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
