Piramal Healthcare to acquire US based Decision Resources Group for approx $635 mn

Drug-maker, Piramal Healthcare has agreed to acquire a US-based healthcare information provider for a consideration of approximately $635 million. The company has been embarking on a strategy to acquire global growth business with sustainable returns after having sold its formulations business to US-based Abbott Laboratories for $3.72 billion in 2010.

Further, the company aims to conclude the deal to acquire Decision Resources Group (DRG), based in Burlington, Massachusetts, by the end of June 30. The unit, with a team of about 300 analysts, is expected to bring in revenues of $160 million in 2012.

Decision Resources Group provides high quality, web-enabled research, predictive, analytics via proprietary databases and consulting services to the global healthcare industry. With 20% CAGR for the last five years, it is one of the fastest growing companies in the US with $5.7 billion global healthcare information industry. DRG's portfolio of products is widely regarded as gold standard of information.
