Bajaj Auto is planning to begin commercial production of RE60, its mini four-wheeler commercial vehicle by end of FY’13 and will also launch the vehicle at the same time, targeting three wheeler customers.

The company is also planning to sell RE60, powered by a 200 cc rear mounted petrol engine in overseas markets where the company’s three wheelers are exported. The company had been involved in developing the product, having a top speed of 70 kilometre per hour with a highest mileage of 35 kilometre per litre, from past four years.

The company unveiled the RE60 during the Auto Expo in the National Capital in January this year. In 2008, the company unveiled a concept small car that was supposed to be developed in association with Renault -Nissan, but decided not to go ahead with the project.
