Container Corporation of India plunges on reporting 8% decline in its Q4 net profit

Container Corporation is currently trading at Rs. 834.00, down by 23.85 points or 2.78% from its previous closing of Rs. 857.85 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 850.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 871.00 and Rs. 832.00 respectively.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1174.90 on 29-Jul-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 805.00 on 30-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 880.00 and Rs. 832.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 10918.55 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 63.09% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 32.92% and 4.00% respectively. 

The government of India enterprise, Container Corporation of India has reported results for the quarter and year ended March 31, 2012.

The company’s net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2012 declined by 8.14% at Rs 227.08 crore as compared to Rs 247.21 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The company’s total income has marginally increased by 9.69% to Rs 1183.68 crore for the January-March, 2012 from Rs 1079.09 crore for the similar quarter, 2011.

For the full year ended March 31, 2012, the company’s net profit grew negligibly by 0.22% at Rs 877.88 crore as compared to Rs 875.94 crore for the previous year. Its total income has increased by 8.57% to Rs 4377.49 crore for the year from Rs 4032.11 crore for the previous year.

Container Corporation of India is engaged in the business of transportation through containerization and it is the market leader having the largest network of 59 ICDs/CFSs in India.
