With the Presidential elections around the corner, the UPA-2 government is trying to fortify its bastion in the Parliament. The UPA-2 during its 3rd anniversary celebrations gave a warm welcome to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav who brought along the vote value of 68,000. Thus, Mulayam Singh may become its lynchpin during the elections as it is preparing to dump the present largest ally Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee’s absence during government’s 3rd anniversary celebrations has supported the story reported by few media agencies.
As per few media reports, Mulayam Singh has sealed a deal with UPA-2 agreeing to back its Presidential candidate. Mulayam Singh had hogged the limelight during the celebrations. For the government, Trinamool Congress and its chief Mamata Banerjee has mostly been hard to handle.
As the Congress led UPA-2 turned 3-year old, it had hardly any achievements to list in its “report card” which was presented by the Prime Minister and ruling party high command Sonia Gandh. This has pressed the panic bottom for government as it may lose the 2014 elections to some other coalition. With mere two years in hand, Gandhi has already placed the government in the election mode and with Uttar Pradesh’s badge to UPA-2, it is now stronger then before and can easily dump TMC whose vote value is 48,000.
