State-owned heavy equipment maker - Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has commissioned a 250 megawatts unit at Parichha Thermal Power Station (TPS), in Uttar Pradesh, which will add 6 million units of electricity to the grid every day.
Due to a chimney collapsing incident, this project had undergone major setback two years back, which was not in the scope of BHEL. However, the company has completed balance commissioning activities by using temporary chimney and the unit was synchronized to grid in February, 2012.
On standalone basis, the company has posted a rise of 20.79% in its net profit at Rs 3379.81 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012 as compared to Rs 2798.04 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income has increased by 7.50% at Rs 19588.94 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 18221.65 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011.
