Maruti Suzuki’s sales drop 25.30% in July 2011

Car market leader - Maruti Suzuki (India) sold a total of 75300 vehicles, down by 25.30% as compared to 100857 vehicles in July 2010. This includes 8796 units of exports during the month.

In July 2011, the company has sold 66504 units in the domestic market, down by 26.20% over 90114 units in corresponding month last year. The sales in A Passenger Vehicles segment dropped by 31% to 52483 units and the sales in C segment registered a fall of 1.70% while, the sales in B segment surged by 66.30%.

The manufacturing of Swift Dzire was shifted from Manesar to Gurgaon. During this planned changeover, production of Swift Dzire was temporarily affected. Therefore, the sales numbers for Swift Dzire in the month are 5,471 units lower than in July 2010.

Despatch of the old Swift was discontinued in July 2011. The new Swift, being manufactured in the Manesar Plant, will be launched nationally in mid-August 2011. As such, while the company despatched 11,828 units of Swift in July 2010, the despatch in July 2011 was only 348 units.
