Maruti Suzuki plans to unveil new 800cc car this Diwali

The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is planning to unveil its new 800cc car, which will be more fuel efficient. The company will start commercial production for the same at its Gurgaon facility from July or August and will launch it by Diwali this year.

The said 800cc car will also be more expensive than its existing best selling model M800 and Alto. The price of M800 varies between Rs 2.05 lakh and Rs 2.30 lakh, while that of Alto stands at Rs 2.40-3.43 lakh.

Alto is the company best-selling car so far, however, the monthly sales of the same have fallen to about 20,000 units in recent times.

Maruti Suzuki India reported 4.98% dip in sales to 98,884 units during May, 2012 as compared to 104,073 units in May last year. The domestic sales were down by 4.3% at 89,478 units in May, compared to 93,519 units in the same month last year while, the exports dropped by 10.9% to 9406 units in May, from 10,554 units in the similar month a year-ago.
