Tata Power jumps on concluding purchase of 51% equity shares of Tata BP Solar India

Tata Power Company is currently trading at Rs. 101.05, up by 2.10 points or 2.12% from its previous closing of Rs. 98.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 100.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 101.35 and Rs. 99.30 respectively. So far 61,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 133.00 on 05-Jul-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 80.65 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 101.35 and Rs. 93.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 23,979.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.81% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.43% and 16.53% respectively.

Tata Power Company has completed the purchase of 51% equity shares of Tata BP Solar India on June 28, 2012, which was held by BP Alternative Energy Holdings. Pursuant to this, Tata BP Solar India is now a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

Last year in December, Tata Power had signed a share purchase agreement with BP Alternative Energy Holdings to purchase their 51% equity and preference shares in the joint venture- Tata BP Solar India.

Tata Power is India's largest integrated private sector power utility with an installed generation capacity of 5297 MW and a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), transmission, distribution and trading.
