The Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has called a meeting with Naxal-affected state government and paramilitary forces on July 13, on impact of Bijapur encounter in Chhattisgarh were some civilians including minors were allegedly gunned down by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel during an anti-Naxal operation.
The meeting will aims at discussing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the human shield and the development of projects in the Naxal-affected districts under Integrated Action Plan. Since the Bijapur encounter was not a planned encounter, the state government hadn’t given attention to how the operation should be conducted and resulted in assassination of seven tribals. Even claimed that the tribal’s who got killed were being used by the Naxals as human shields.
