Union Bank of India has introduced an automated teller machine (ATM) at the Passport Seva Kendra in Thane. It has opened same pilot talking ATM in Ahmedabad a month ago. The bank is likely to deploy further such 100 ATMs for the bank, over 50 will be deployed at Passport Seva Kendras and at other Union Bank locations around the country. These talking ATM is designed with accessible key pads, voice-guidance technology, braille stickers and multi-lingual capability.
Recently, bank has reduced the interest rate for various categories under agriculture by up to 175 basis points (bps) effective from July 01, 2012. This step is another effort by the bank to boost credit flow to the agriculture sector. The bank has also slashed the interest rate for lending to self help groups (SHGs) by 175 bps.
