Grasim Industries has decided to resume production at its Nagda plant in Madhya Pradesh in a phased manner. Because of water shortage, it has suspended production of staple fibre and halved Chlor-Alkali output at the plant last week. As the availability of water has improved, production in the plant is being restarted in a gradual manner.
The company has viscose staple fibre production capacity of 3,33,975 tonnes a year through its three plants. Besides Madhya Pradesh, the company has production facilities at Kharach in Gujarat and Harihar in Karnataka.
