Govt of Maharashtra plans to provide Rs 24,700 crore crop loans in 2012-13

For the year 2012-13, the Maharashtra government is aiming to provide crop loans to the tune of Rs 24,700 crore. The target set by the state government is an endeavor to provide crop loans to all the farmers without denying anyone. The state government so far had disbursed loans amounting to Rs 716 crore.

Of the total loan disbursement of Rs 24,700 crore, 52% of the total farm credit would be provided by nationalized banks while co-operative banks would contribute 48%. Besides, the state government in the next two years is trying to increase the loan disbursal to Rs 30,000 crore. The state had disbursed crop loans of Rs 19,788 crore during 2010-11.
