Anna with team may debut in politics; Khurshid and Digvijaya Singh welcome the decision

Ahead of his fast at Jantar Mantar, social activist Anna Hazare has announced that he will enter politics if people demanded so. Hazare has said that depending on the demand he will willingly enter politics and put up candidates to contest in elections.

“I don’t think so presently but if the people say that Anna should enter politics then I could think about it. I am confident that we can find candidates in consultation with the people to stand for elections and will work for the benefit of people honestly,” he said. Hazare’s entry into politics could be through any elections not limited to specific like the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Presently, Hazare and his team are on indefinite fast in capital, however, the movement is witnessing lesser crowd than expected. “I think that if the people are busy with their own work and unable to join in the movement it doesnt matter,” Hazare said.

The Union law minister Salman Khurshid and Congress spokesperson Digvijaya Singh have welcomed the decision of Anna Hazare entering into politics. “We have been saying this for a long time that Team Anna would enter politics. What is new about it?” said Khurshid. “I welcome Anna’s decision. Anna, Ramdev, Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi, Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan, everyone must contest in the coming elections,” Singh said.
