Sushilkumar Shinde takes over Pranab-da’s position in lower house

The newly appointed home minister - Sushilkumar Shinde has been elected as the leader of the house in the Lok Sabha. Prior to Shinde, the incumbent President of India - Pranab Mukherjee held this position.

'I am grateful to the Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi for yet another opportunity to a person from the Schedule Caste,' Shinde said. The home minister was nominated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In the cabinet reshuffling Shinde was handed over with the charge of Home Ministry.
