REC in demand on reporting decent Q1 numbers

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is currently trading at Rs 193.05, up by 5.35 points or 2.85% from its previous closing of Rs 187.70 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 192.65 and has touched a high and low of Rs 195.90 and Rs 188.60 respectively. So far 457582 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 409.50 on 11-Oct-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 178.50 on 23-Jun-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 208.50 and Rs 182.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 18534.61 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 66.80% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 24.19% and 9.01% respectively. 

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has reported unaudited results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2011.

The company’s net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 rose by 12.70% at Rs 661.96 crore as compared to Rs 587.36 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Its total income increased 23.03% at Rs 2372.88 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 1928.77 crore for the same quarter last year.

Rural Electrification Corporation is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
