TMC may perform solo in 2014 Lok Sabha elections

Date: 07-08-2012

In a major setback to the UPA-II government and Congress party, the key ally Trinamool Congress (TMC) has hinted at contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha polls without any alliance making the “win” for Congress tougher. TMC along with Congress had contested and won the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

“We are planning to win all 42 seats (in West Bengal). We want to see that under Mamata Banerjee‘s leadership 42 MPs remain in our command,” TMC leader Sudeep Bandopadhaya said.

The cold war between the Congress and TMC has affected the relations and both the party leaders are often in news for attacking each other. The TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has been against most of the decisions by the UPA-II, to name the recent most was the nomination of President of India, however, later the party supported the candidature of nominations selected by UPA-II.
