Bharti Airtel reels under pressure on disappointing Q1 show

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs 283.20, down by 10.60 points or 3.61% from its previous closing of Rs. 293.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 293.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs 293.90 and Rs 282.55 respectively. So far 664801 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 417.00 on 02-Sep-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs 280.10 on 23-May-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 303.00 and Rs 293.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 107622.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.50% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.28% and 6.23% respectively.

India's largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel disappointed the street by reporting lower-than-expected numbers in the quarter ended June 2012.

Bharti Airtel has reported a fall of 2.63% in its net profit at Rs 1470.00 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 1432.30 crore for the same quarter in theprevious year. However, the total income from operation of the company has increased by 7.86% at Rs 10980.60 crore for Q1FY13 as compared Rs 10180.50 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

On the consolidated basis, the group has reported a decline of 37.28% in its net profit at Rs 762.20 crore for Q1FY13 as compared to Rs 1215.20 crore for Q1FY12. However, the total FY13 income from operation of the group has increased by 14.01% at Rs 19361.90 crore for Q1FY13 as compared Rs 16982.80 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.

Meanwhile, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) dropped 18.75% to Rs 2091.60 crore for June quarter as against the figure of Rs 2574.50 crore, in the similar quarter of the previous year. On Q-o-Q basis, EBITDA dipped by 24.34%.
