Tata Power shines on reporting 11% rise in Q1 net profit

Tata Power is currently trading at Rs. 98.70, up by 0.65 points or 0.66% from its previous closing of Rs. 98.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 96.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 99.35 and Rs. 96.75 respectively. So far 1, 77,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 121.50 on 21-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 80.65 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 99.80 and Rs. 96.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 23,422 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.75% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.62% and 16.41% respectively.

On standalone basis, the company has reported a rise of 10.92% in its net profit at Rs 312.30 crore for the quarter, as compared to Rs 281.56 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.  Total income of the company has increased by 21.23% to Rs 2629.69 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs  2168.82 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011.

On Consolidated, the company has reported a fall of 66.09% in its net profit at Rs 145.93 crore for the quarter, as compared to Rs 430.44 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income of the company has decreased by 22.99% to Rs 7316.47 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 5948.84 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2011.
