Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.

Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) has proposed to set up a skill development centre in Gujarat, where it is investing Rs 4,000 crore to set up a manufacturing facility.The proposal was made by Osamu Suzuki, the Chairman of the Japanese parent company to CM of Gujarat, during a meeting in Gandhinagar. Mr. Suzuki has said that skill development is an area mandatory for the establishment of a new industrial empire. 

Initially 500 technicians would go to Japan for training so that they get familiar to the Japanese culture of work and can be trained before the production gets started. Further, a centre to train trainers would be established before starting production at the new plant near Mehsana, Gujarat. MSIL in the first phase plans to manufacture 2.5 lakh vehicles in the year 2015-16.
