Biocon in talks to set up manufacturing plant at Gujarat

Many Pharma majors are eyeing the state of Gujarat. Biocon, leading biopharma company headquartered in Bangalore too has been reported to have approached the Gujarat government with the investment proposal that could be around Rs 250-300 crore.

Though, the talks are in the preliminary stages but the company is said to have approached the state government for land to set up a manufacturing plant.

At least 25-30 big pharma companies are expected to invest in Gujarat in the coming future. India exported around Rs 18,000 crore worth Pharma products in the year 2011-2012 and Gujarat accounted for around 28 per cent of India’s Pharma exports.
