ITC, tobacco to hospitality major is all set to speed up its Rs 25,000-crore investment plan, by expanding its network of hotels. Currently, it has 40 hotel projects in the pipeline.
A portion of the investment of Rs 10,000 crore has been allocated to expand its hotels division. Besides, it is also planning one luxury hotel in Sri Lanka. The remaining Rs 15,000 crore will be invested across verticals including food, lifestyle retailing, personal-care products, and packaging to agri commodities, paperboards and stationery.
The company has purchased land in Sri Lanka for a luxury hotel in Colombo, while it is also looking at setting up a greenfield project in Nepal. The company will look out for more opportunities in Southeast Asia, as it believes that the neighboring countries have a market to afford a few luxury hotels.
