Tata Motors tumbles on reporting decline in global July sales

Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs 774.50, down by 27.25 points or 3.40% from its previous closing of Rs 801.75 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 801.75 and has touched a high and low of Rs 801.75 and Rs 771.75 respectively. So far 2,85,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 1381.40 on 06-Dec-2010 and a 52 week low of Rs 771.75 on 17-Aug-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 861.40 and Rs 771.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 41,691 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 34.84% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 37.00% and 28.16% respectively. 

Tata Motors’ global sales stood at 85,392 units in July, down 6% as compared to the same month last year. In July sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were flat at 19,119 vehicles and sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand were down 23% last month to 4,372 units, while Land Rover sales were up by 8% at 14,747 units.

The total passenger vehicles sales stood at 38,154 units in July 2011, down 24% from the corresponding period last year. Commercial vehicles sales were up by 16% to 47,238 units from the same month last year.

The Tata Motors Group's global sales comprise Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles, along with the distributed brands in India; Jaguar and Land Rover.
