The company's step to acquire spectrum, which it can bundle its high speed mobile broadband service is very logical because spectrum, which does not allow voice calls, the company wouldn’t be able to generate big revenue.

The government is likely to start auction of spectrum, vacated from cancellation of 122 telecom licenses by the Supreme Court, from November 12, 2012. The government is planning to auction airwaves frequencies in 1800 Mhz band and 800 Mhz band, which are being currently used for GSM and CDMA mobile telephony services, respectively.

Earlier in 2010, RIL entered into telecom business by acquiring Infotel Broadband on the day, the later won pan-India airwaves frequencies for Rs 12,847.71 crore.

Further, the company is planning to provide digital services in key domains of national interest such as education, healthcare, security, financial services, government-citizen interfaces and entertainment.
