Tata Power scouts coal assets at other geographies

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility and a leading renewable energy company, is looking for coal assets in the United States, Colombia and Africa. The company took this decision as power producer is facing a shortage of coal supplies as state miner, Coal India, is unable to meet demand and also gas production continues to decline. Company's total generation capacity stands at 6,099 MegaWatts.

Tata Power has a strong portfolio of wind power comprising of 376.4 MW of installed wind generating capacity, which makes it one of the largest renewable players in India. The wind farms of the company are spread across four states, viz. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka.
