Tata Steel saleable steel production stood at 1.87 MT in Q2FY13

Tata Steel has achieved best ever quarterly saleable steel production which stood at 1.87 million tonnes (MT) in the second quarter of current financial year. The company was able to achieve this production on back of record production of crude and hot metal. In Q2 of the last fiscal, it had achieved 1.71 MT of the saleable steel output.

The previous best production in a quarter achieved buy the company was Q4 of the last fiscal. Besides, the steel giant recorded best ever production as far as the hot metal and crude steel output were concerned in any quarter. While hot metal production was recorded at 2.07 MT in the Q2 of the current fiscal (previous best at 2.05 MT in Q1 FY13), the crude steel production stood at 1.93 MT (previous best at 1.82 MT in Q4 FY12).

Further, the merchant mill of the company achieved its best ever quarterly production at 0.103 MT, it also witnessed best ever flat product sales at 1.008 MT in a quarter against the previous best 0.999 MT in Q4 of FY12. The recently commissioned plants including pellet plant has helped the company achieve their planned targets for the July-September quarter.
