Birla Corporation lifts suspension of work at jute mills unit

Birla Corporation will lift the suspension of work at the company’s jute mills unit with effect from today i.e. October 18, 2012. This is pursuant to a tripartite settlement with the trade unions on October 16, 2012.

Earlier, the company had suspended work at jute mills unit with effect from March 31, 2012. The company had taken this step consequent to illegal strike and other unlawful activities resorted to by a section of workmen on March 30, 2012.

Birla Corporation operates four division cement, jute, vinoleum and auto trim. It has eight manufacturing facilities located in Pune, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gurgoan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
