RIL refutes Arvind Kejriwal's allegations

Date: 01-11-2012

Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Industries (RIL), refuting charges of receiving favors from government for its KG-D6 gas project, issued a media release which stated that irresponsible allegations by India against Corruption (IAC) were at the 'behest of vested interests.’ It stated that, the statements made by IAC in the press conference, were devoid of any truth or substance whatsoever and are denied.

RIL reported that the deep water exploration project on the KG-D6 basin has deployed the best technical resources and has been recognized by the oil and gas industry as one of the very best in its class. As per RIL, KG-D6 fields, India's first deep-sea project that was developed in a record six-year time, has added great economic value to the country and by all the accounts is a project of which India can be just proud.

Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal targeting Reliance Industries’ chairman Mukesh Ambani alleged that India's richest man managed undue favors from both the UPA and NDA governments. Further, in a news conference on Oct 31 evening, in which he broadly summed up various allegations and audit observations against the company since it made India's first deep-sea discovery, Kejriwal blamed RIL of 'blackmailing' the government to increase the price of gas by 'almost stopping' production and indulging in 'hoarding like petty traders'.
