Bharti Airtel, India’s top mobile carrier has added 11.50 lakh mobile subscribers in August. Following the said addition, the company’s total subscriber count stood at 17.18 crore. Bharti Airtel had added 15.10 lakh mobile subscribers in July.
Vodafone's India unit, which is the country's third-biggest mobile carrier, signed up 11.30 lakh mobile subscribers in August to have a total of about 14.41 crore, as per the Cellular Operators Association of India.
Recently, Bharti Airtel’s African-arm came in with PayOnline system an online payment system which would allow its mobile subscribers to use handsets to make purchase online along with Standard Chartered Bank and MasterCard Worldwide. The company had initially launched this system in Kenya.
