The company is looking at Gujarat as a potential location for the plant, but a final decision will be made only by the end of October.
Global automakers are flocking to the business-friendly Gujarat recently, with Ford Motor and PSA Peugeot Citroen both announcing investment plans in the state in the past few months.
Further, an ongoing strike at its Manesar plant in northern Haryana state has hurt the production of its popular Swift model, raising doubts about the firm's ability to maintain sales growth. Recently, the company had transferred Swift production to Gurgaon plant due to labor problems at Manesar plant. The company shifted the entire assembly of the new Swift model, after production at the Manesar plant came to almost a halt on the back of a labor strike.
