5.15 (0.56%) HDFC Bank, second largest private sector lender has introduced a mobile banking application in the national language, considering 560-million Hindi-speaking Indian population. This mobile banking solution will allow customers using an Android smartphone to conduct over 30 banking transactions, ranging from balance enquiry and checking transaction history to fund transfer and bill payments.
In July-August last year, the bank has launched English-language mobile banking, which already has 12 lakh users and with the Hindi option, bank aims to increase the user base to 16 lakh.
The bank posted a rise of 30.07% in its net profit at Rs 1559.98 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012 as compared to Rs 1199.35 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income increased by 24.47% at Rs 9869.77 crore for quarter under review as compared to Rs 7929.38 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011.
