L&T gains on plan to set-up one of the largest residential projects in Mumbai

L&T is currently trading at Rs. 1674.05, up by 15.50 points or 0.85% from its previous closing of Rs. 1658.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1663.35 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1681.40 and Rs. 1663.35 respectively. So far 83,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1719.50 on 29-Oct-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 971.00 on 21-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1684.85 and Rs. 1620.40 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 1, 02,754 crore.

The Institutions and Non-Institutions held 53.24% and 43.55% respectively.

Engineering & construction giant, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), is mulling to set up one of the largest residential projects in Mumbai, measuring up to two million square feet over 20 acres of vacant land on its Powai campus in Mumbai.

With the residential real estate prices in Powai and adjoining areas estimating to be around Rs 25,000 per square feet, the project is estimated to fetch Rs 5,000 crore in sales. However, with the construction cost, being at Rs 2,500-3,000 per square foot, the company is estimated to spend only Rs 500-600 crore.
