M&M to hike prices by over one percent in January

In an effort to offset rising input costs, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) would be hiking prices of its vehicles by over one per cent across various models in January. The price hike will impact both commercials and personal vehicles segment. Already other car makers viz, Maruti Suzuki India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and General Motor India have announced plans to increase prices from January.

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), reported an 18% rise in auto sales number for November 2012 at 48143 units, as against 40722 units during November 2011. The company's domestic sales soared by 23% at 46755 units during November 2012 against 38159 units the same month previous year.

The company’s passenger vehicles also registered 38% growth at 24604 units in November 2012, compared to 17813 units during November 2011.  The 4-wheeler commercial segment which includes the passenger and load categories has registered a growth of 7% growth at 14353 units. Exports for the month of November 2012 stood at 1388 units.
