Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has successfully drilled three gas wells in Tripura by using new technology. The new technology - Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) proved to be beneficial in the state because conventional drilling could not be used in these geographical locations.

Earlier, ONGC had trouble in undertaking drilling work in some locations because of different geographical formations.

ONGC is India’s largest government-run corporation and produces about 70% of India’s crude oil and natural gas. The corporation is the biggest public sector commercial organization in India.
