-2.90 (-0.83%) National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), India's largest power generation company, has incorporated a 50:50 joint venture (JV) company with Ceylone Electricity Board, Sri Lanka in the name of ‘Trincomalee Power Company’ on September 26, 2011 in Sri Lanka.
Further, the joint venture company shall set up 2x250 MW Coal based power project in Trincomalee Region in Sri Lanka.
Recently, NTPC planned to become a 128,000 MW capacity firm by 2032. During 2011-12 NTPC had a total installed capacity of 34,854 MW and would add 4,980 MW, including Sipat 660 MW unit. It had 14,088 MW capacity under construction and projects worth 18,471 MW are in the bidding process.
