Tata Motors trades higher on the BSE

Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs 332.70, up by 4.70 points or 1.43% from its previous closing of Rs 328.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 330.40 and has touched a high and low of Rs 333.60 and Rs 328.00 respectively. So far 298824 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 337.05 on 10-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs 202.95 on 26-Jul-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 337.05 and Rs 313.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 89905.68 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 34.74% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 40.38% and 8.47% respectively.

Tata Motors, country’s largest automobile company has stopped production for three days at its Jamshedpur plant, in order to avoid inventory pile up, with the industry going through a weak period. The production halt started from January 14, 2013. The Jamshedpur plant produces heavy commercial vehicles, engines, cabs and cowls.

Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in December 2012 were 65,582 vehicles as against 82,278 vehicles in same month last year, registering a fall of 20.29%. The company’s domestic sales of commercial and passenger vehicles for December 2012 were 61,700 units, down by 19.52% as compared to 76,663 in the same month last year.
