-1.20 (-0.28%) Another Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Coal India, after Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), reportedly is set to taste shale gas in Indian soil. The coal miner has tied up with the US-based Advance Resource International Inc for exploration and identification of the potential shale deposits within the company’s coal blocks.
With an effort to become second firm to succeed on shale in India, after ONGC's success in its pilot project at Ichhapur in Burdwan district of West Bengal, Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI) a subsidiary of Coal India, along with Advance Resource, has also undertaken a pilot project at Gondwana basin of Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL). Meanwhile studies are also going on in some parts of Central Coalfields.
