Bharti Airtel gains on the buzz of bidding for fresh license in Myanmar

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs. 357.85, up by 0.25 points or 0.07% from its previous closing of Rs. 357.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 356.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 363.50 and Rs. 354.50 respectively. So far 72585 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 400.90 on 03-Feb-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 238.50 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 370.40 and Rs. 349.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 136616.15 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.50% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.46% and 6.04% respectively.

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, has reportedly decided to acquire fresh license in Myanmar to spread its footprint in Asia. The company is already operational in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Sunil Mittal-promoted Bharti Airtel has put in a bid for this license as Myanmar is offering two licenses to expand telecom coverage to as much as 80% of the country by 2016 and its 5.44 million mobile-phone subscribers as of last month amounted to just 9% penetration rate. The licenses will be issued by June and may last as long as 20 years with an option for renewal.
