Reliance Industries’ (RIL) telecom arm -- Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio) has won the award for Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) performance in the telecom sector at the second  ESG Summit and Awards event organized by Transformance Forums in Mumbai.

Jio was known for its efforts in combating climate change through the adoption of renewable energy to replace fossil fuels, indigenous development of its 5G technology stack, and demonstrating use cases in sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and education. As part of its climate change efforts, Jio has set up over 144 megawatts of solar at over 16,000 of its sites across India.

Reliance Industries is India’s largest private sector company. The company’s activities span hydrocarbon exploration and production, petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and 4G digital services.
