Coal India inks fuel supply pacts with three power firms

Coal India has inked fuel supply pacts with three power firms - Maithon Power, Rosa Power Supply and Adhunik Power and Natural Resource - and agreements with eight others are yet remaining. So far, the coal mammoth had entered into agreements with 54 power generation firms - excluding these three.

However, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 2 firms, viz, NCCP, Dadri Stage-II 2nd Unit (NTPC) and Damodar Valley Corporation Mejia TPS Unit 7, out of 8 firms waiting formal signing of the FSAs, have been entered. The firms with which the FSAs yet are not entered with include Dhariwal Infrastructure; SKS Power Generation Chattisgarh; NRI Power & Steel; Maruti Clean Coal and Power; Neeraj Power and UPPCL (Bara TPS).

The world’s largest coal miner is aiming to achieve a production of 492 million tonnes for financial year 2013-14, around 6% higher than the current year’s expected production. The company targeted to mine 464 million tonnes of coal this fiscal year ending March 2013.
