M&M’s Nashik plant workers continue strike

Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) Nashik plant’s workers continued their strike for wage negotiations, which started on March 5, 2013. This move has affected production of about 500 vehicles, which will not impact the sales immediately as it has three weeks stock in pipeline. The flagship company of the Mahindra Group produces utility vehicles Xylo, Scorpio, Bolero and sedan Verito at the Nashik Plant.

The company has reported 2.97% decline in total tractor sales in February 2013 at 14,861 units. The company had sold a total of 15,316 tractors in the same month of last year. Domestic tractor sales fell by 2.77% during the month at 13,944 units, as against 14,341 units in February 2012. Exports during the month stood at 917 units, compared to 975 units in same month previous year, down 5.95%.
