NTPC gains on recording over two-fold jump in coal production in April

NTPC is currently trading at Rs. 176.55, up by 0.60 points or 0.34% from its previous closing of Rs. 175.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 175.05 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 178.55 and Rs. 175.05 respectively. So far 293451 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 182.80 on 01-Nov-2022 and a 52 week low of Rs. 135.00 on 24-Jun-2022.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 178.55 and Rs. 168.85 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 171340.09 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 51.10%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 46.21% and 2.70% respectively. 

NTPC has recorded 2.75 million metric tonnes (MMT) of coal production during the month of April 2023 as compared to 1.11 MMT recorded for the month of April 2022, an over two-fold jump. Coal despatch at 2.95 MMT in April 2023 over despatch volumes of 1.23 MMT achieved in April 2022 was highest ever.

The company recorded a coal production of 23.2 million tonnes in FY23, witnessing a 65 per cent growth against 14.02 million tonnes a year-ago from its four operational coal mines -- NTPC Pakri-Barwadih (Jharkhand), NTPC Chatti Bariatu (Jharkhand), NTPC Dulanga (Odisha) and NTPC Talaipalli (Chhattisgarh). 

NTPC is the largest power utility company in India and has presence in Coal, Gas, Solar PV, Hydro and Wind Power Generation and Coal Mining.
