-5.70 (-1.66%) State run, NTPC’s 3,000 Mw super thermal power station at Kaniha near Talcher has started receiving coal from newly linked Kaniha coal mines of Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL). The company has received three coal laden rakes containing 4,000 tonne of coal.
With this initiative, it is expected to raise power generation and mitigate problems faced by the power plant due to shortfall in coal supplies. Prior to this, the power plant was sourcing coal from Lingaraj mines and other coal mines in Talcher coalfields. The power station has also been importing coal to meet its requirement.
