Tata Motors, country’s largest automaker is reportedly planning to come up with its new compact car- X0, which is under development, at the Sanand plant in Gujarat. It aims to roll out this new compact car by 2015. Automaker had recently conducted a feasibility study to produce X0, based on the Indica platform. With this initiative, it plans to improve capacity utilization and gain from the tax incentives too.

Pressurized by slowdown of automobile market in India, Tata Motors has sold just 948 units of its Nano- the People’s car in April this year, down by 88% as compared to 8,028 units sold in April last year. The company witnessed a fall of 27.75% in Nano’s sales numbers last fiscal at 53,848 units in FY13 as compared to 74,527 units in 2011-12.
