-15.85 (-1.13%) Reliance Industries’ telecom arm -- Reliance Jio Infocomm -- is reportedly planning to roll out its fourth generation (4G) services in West Bengal. In this regard, the company will invest Rs 3,000 crore over a two-year period for setting up necessary infrastructure. A network of around 5,500 km of high speed optical fibre cables will be laid across the State. Nearly, half or 50 per cent of the optical fibre network will be laid in Kolkata proper and greater Kolkata (areas adjoining the city).
4G network telecom services include high-speed upload and download of video and data. For example, a minute-long video will take a few seconds to download compared to 2G or 3G networks.
