Maruti Suzuki’s May 2013 production declines by 2%

Maruti Suzuki’s total production for the month of May 2013 has declined by 2.54% to 101,360 units from 104,003 units in same month last year. However, the production of Mini cars like Alto, A-Star and Wagon-R has increased by 17.45% to 43,911 units from 37,386 in May 2012.

The compact cars like Ritz, Swift, and Estilo production slipped by 22.61% to 22,807 units. The production of Super Compact, Midsize and Executive class cars fall by 1.89% to 19,981 units. Further, the production of Utility vehicle declined 13.64% from 6,131 units to 7,099 units. The utility vehicles include Gypsy, Ertiga, Grand and Vitara. The production of vans like Eco and Omni dropped 11.92% to 8530 units from 9684 units. 

The company has registered a fall of 14.4% in its total car sales (Domestic + Export) for the month of May at 84,677 units as against 98,884 units in May 2012. The company’s domestic sales also declined 13% in May 2013 at 77,821 units as against 89,478 units in corresponding month last year.
